While many, including Prime Minister Modi to Sachin Tendulkar congratulated the young team on the 'rare' and 'historic' win, some pointed on Twitter that it's Bollywood Anushka Sharma who should be congratulated.
Hey babe @anushkasharma ..Well done for making India & Virat win! Logic na..u ought to get the bouquets not just the damn brickbats! Hugs

Unless you have been living under a rock, you probably remember how the actress was 'blamed' during India's semi-final match against Australia in the World Cup earlier this year.
As soon as Virat Kohli got out after making just one run in the match, Anushka Sharma became easy bait for mean-spirited jokes.
Soon after, tweets started directly blaming the actress for not just Kohli's poor performance, but all of Team India's loss to the hosts.
Later, defending his girlfriend Anushka Sharma, Kohli had said, "At a human level, I would say I was hurt and the people who said those things and the way they said should be ashamed of themselves."
So, this time many on Twitter are pointing out that Anushka should win accolades too. If she gets brickbats, why not bouquets too, right?
Congrats to Anushka Sharma for the series win. Since she gets blamed when her boyfriend loses, it's only fair she be applauded for this win.

Why no one is congratulating @AnushkaSharma for maiden test series win of @imVkohli? Well, she is blamed every time when Kohli plays badly.

Now that Captain Virat Kohli has won his first Test series as Captain, lets take a moment to applaud Anushka Sharma :D #IYKWIM #INDvsSL

And Congratulations to @AnushkaSharma. If Indians troll you when India is losing then they should thank you when we win.

While many including Kohli praised Ishant Sharma for his 'fierceness' and in helping the team win, Twitter pointed out that it's the other Sharma who should be praised. Read: Anushka. Who else?
If we lose then Anushka Sharma & now we've won then other Sharma. That's unfair for Virak Kohli #IshantSharma #IndvSL

We'd say Twitter is only being fair.
