After Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar fired top missile scientist Avinash Chander as the chief of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in January, the country's main defence research organisation will be headed by J Manjula as the the Director General, Electronics & Communication Systems.
Citing the DRDO press release, Press Trust of India reported that Manjul, an alumnus of Osmania University and a practising electronics and communications engineer, has been leading Defence Avionics Research Establishment (DARE) since July 2014.
Manjula, who also served at the Defence Electronics Research Laboratory, Hyderabad, for more than 26 years in the area of Integrated Electronic Warfare, has designed fast signal acquisition receivers, high power RF systems, responsive jammers, controller software etc for various systems inducted in Army, Navy, Air Force and Paramilitary, PTI reported.
She was awarded the DRDO award for 'Performance Excellence' and 'Scientist of the Year 2011'.
