This footage of a teacher thrashing and abusing an injured ten-year-old student has gone viral on social media. It was recorded in April.
The young boy was allegedly hit for coming late to class due to a fractured arm (which can be seen in the video). However, he received a beating instead of sympathies for his injury. The teacher, who can be seen holding the boy by both ears in the video, also repeatedly questioned him about his caste, adding insult to injury.
A Dalit association lodged an official complaint with the police after the incident that took place in Mangaluru, just outside a temple, started trending online yesterday. No arrests have been made so far.
