The German President has conferred Syed Ibrahim from Kerala with the 'Cross of the Order of Merit' in recognition of his commitment towards improving Indo-German relations.
German Consul General in Bengaluru, J rn Rohde will present the 'Cross of the Order of Merit' of Germany on October 3 to Syed Ibrahim, Director of the Goethe-Zentrum here. He is also the Managing Director of the software company Palnar Transmedia Pvt Ltd, a press release said.
The presentation would be made during the 25th Anniversary celebration of German Unification on Oct 3 here.
Syed was chosen for the award in recognition of his tireless commitment for the benefit of Indo-German relations.
Thanks to his initiative, the German Language and Cultural Centre (Goethe-Zentrum) was successfully established in the state capital in November 2008.
Today, over 1,000 students attend the German language courses every year and the number of students is increasing steadily.
Syed has facilitated numerous partnerships between Indian and German schools, universities and cities; among them the partnership between the cities of Thiruvananthapuram and Kaiserslautern.
