Gender inequality is not an issue that is given much importance in various professional and personal spaces. Discussions around it are often pushed back in favour of other issues deemed more important than it, especially in India. So the NGO Oxfam India, decided to turn the spotlight back on it..
They created a video where they documented four men and four women as they were questioned about very similar situations. They were were put under a spotlight and asked whether not not they can cope with a certain situation. Every time, they received 'no' as an aswer, the spotlight dimmed. That way, the men in the video realised how many things they take for granted and women can't.
Some of the questions were about walking home alone in the dark, weraing what they liked, continuing to work after having children.
The video ends with an invitation to viewers to answer similar questions, in an attempt to shed some more light on gender inequality in the country.
