THIRUVANANTHAPURAM -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers staged a protest here on Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Kerala Finance Minister K. M. Mani over the bar bribery case.
The police had to use water cannons to disperse the protestors, who raised slogans against the tainted minister.
Earlier, a Kerala hotelier had accused the 82-year-old minister of allegedly taking Rs. one crore to renew licences of bars shut down after a ban.
The vigilance bureau had told the court earlier this year that there was not enough evidence against Mani.
Mani has, however, refused to step down from his post and threatened that he would withdraw support of his nine MLAs from the UDF government if forced to resign.
