PATNA -- Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday submitted his resignation to Governor Ramnath Kovind after the cabinet decided to recommend the dissolution of the outgoing assembly
Kumar said that he has resigned from his post as the Chief Minister and a proposal has been sent to the Governor asking to dismiss the assembly immediately.
"I gave my resignation to the Governor and he has accepted it," said Kumar to media here.
He further added that after a meeting of Mahagathbandhan in the evening, details of oath ceremony will be decided.
Following the Bihar Assembly election result, where Grand Alliance has claimed a thumping majority, Kumar resigns from his post today. He would be sworn in again as the CM for the fifth time.
The tenure for the current assembly will expire on November 29, however, the legislative assembly will be dissolved on November 14.
Nitish Kumar, who led the Grand Alliance to a victory in the assembly elections, will stake claim to form a new government after a joint meeting of his party, the RJD and the Congress later today.
Newly-elected legislators of Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) will elect Nitish Kumar as the leader of the legislature party. He will then be elected leader of the legislature party of the Grand Alliance.
