KARACHI -- Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reiterated on Tuesday that his country's commitment is to counter-terrorism and combating crime.

According to Dawn, Sharif was speaking at the 14th Heads of Government Council meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation ( SCO) in China.

He said that Pakistan is seeing challenges to 'state sovereignty and territorial integrity', adding that the security situation in the region remains 'precarious'.

Terrorism has become an "even more insidious" threat, he said.

Prime ministers from the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are also attending the summit, with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang chairing the meeting.
