Hours after a 19-year-old girl was dragged into a car from outside a college in Gurgaon near Delhi on Monday, the police said she has been "freed and she is safe."
In a shocking incident, a girl was abducted in broad daylight from outside her college gate in Gurgaon, putting the spotlight on women’s safety in the Delhi-NCR region once again.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner Navdeep Virk has said that the three accused have been identified and will be arrested soon. "The girl is safe at her home now," he said.
According to Virk, the culprits and the victim knew each other. The Commissioner said he will reveal more details later.
According to the eye-witnesses, a speeding Maruti Swift stopped in front of Dronacharya Government College and a man sitting behind pulled this second-year student of the college.
In a CCTV footage, the girl is seen struggling and screaming for help as she is dragged into a car.
The car is seen stopping because of traffic at a crowded intersection and its door flings open. The girl fights to escape but the door shuts and the car speeds off.
The CCTV footage also shows a couple of youngsters chasing the vehicle to stop the kidnappers.
According to eyewitnesses, there were four people in car and the girl student was pulled into the backseat before evading the crowd.
"They picked up the girl in a Swift car. The girl was calling for help. There were two persons in the car and the girl was wearing a yellow salwar and with a red dupatta," Rahul Yadav, an eye-witness, told ANI.
Eyewitnesses also said that the number of the car couldn't be seen as number plates were covered with mud and gravel.
