NEW DELHI -- Beating China, the mobile phone subscriber base in India has peaked to more than one billion users for the first time.
According to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the total wireless subscribers in the country rose to more than a billion at the end of October from 996.7 million at September-end.
Asia's third-largest economy has seen a significant surge in mobile subscribers in the last few years.
