A boat ride to the wedding venue, the historic Maheshwar Fort, close to 100 shikari tents to welcome the party and the who's who from Bollywood, politics, bureaucracy and business -- this could be the most spectacular wedding in the country this year. The big, fat royal wedding of Yashwant Rao Holkar, a descendant of the erstwhile rulers of Indore, to Nairika, daughter of renowned industrialist Vijay Crishna Godrej, was a stunning affair.
Yashwant Rao and Nairika, who have been friends since childhood, tied the knot in the ancient fort owned by the Holkars for generations. It is set on the banks of Narmada river in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, reported an article in The Times of India.
While Nairika wore a gorgeous handwoven Maheshwar sari especially designed for their wedding by the Rehwa Society, the groom Yashwant Rao was dressed in traditional royal attire, said TOI.
According to an article in the Hindustan Times, more than 2,000 guests had been invited for the wedding, including most of the royal families in India.
