For young hockey player Taruna Chauhan and her little baby, her mother-in-law has proven be a real support system — the kind guardian angels and knights in shining armour are made of.

Four years ago, the 24-year-old was at crossroads after delivering a baby. However, Chauhan’s mother-in-law stepped in to take care of the child so Chauhan could work on getting back in form to play hockey.

Chauhan currently represents the CCS University, and is at present playing in the North Zone Women’s Hockey at the Lucknow University. “My husband lives in Saudi Arabia. So it was left to me to take care of my son Tushant,” she revealed in an interview with The Times of India, adding that she was pursuing hockey five years prior to her marriage. “It was my mother-in-law because of whom I was able to practise both in the morning and evening. My husband too kept my motivation strong,” she said.

Chauhan is also grateful to her mother-in-law for allowing her to complete her education, in spite of not having pursued her own education. “She realised that I needed to study and play at the same time… she said she wanted to see me successful in both and would not let any problem come in between,” said Chauhan.

Chauhan is based out of Meerut, where she lives with her son, and her mother-in-law.
