Priyanka Chopra was relentlessly trolled on Twitter after an episode of her ABC show, Quantico, featured a plot that had a Hindu character as the mastermind behind a terror attempt in Manhattan.
The right-leaning Twitter mob was pissed that 'Indians were shown in bad light' and an outpour of bigotry, hate, and general malice was directed towards Chopra's Twitter feed.
For instance:
Latest episode of Quantico is about Hindu men with Rudraksh .. who are identified as Indian nationalists with knowledge of Indian government planning a Nuclear attack and blaming Pakistan and the Great priyanka chopra with FBI team stops it .. #Shame#ShameonyouPriyankaChoprapic.twitter.com/Qhyve3GOEW

There were the usual suspects:
ABC apologises to Indians for Hindu Nationalist Terror Plot portrayed in Quantico.

But #PriyankaChopra you dispointed your own country & religion for such show. You shouldnt have done that scene
Glad that i don't watch this show #Quantico
While there were some sane voices that argued that the show is fictional, ultimately both PC and ABC had to apologise.
I'm extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change.

While Bollywood, as usual, remained mum, actor-producer Pooja Bhatt was one of the few who came in support of PC. She said:
When Priyanka Chopra makes a mark for herself Internationally we claim her achievements as our own & then threaten to ban her films & make her apologise for a work of fiction that has been created by someone else. Can we please attempt to be larger than that?

Aisi Taisi Democracy summed up the senseless trolling in an even better way:
Breaking: Hindus terrorize ABC and Priyanka Chopra into admitting that there is no Hindu terror.
