NEW DELHI -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday even though the Aam Aadmi Party chief had sought an appointment ten days ago to discuss issues of governance in the capital.

"Last week when we asked about the chief minister's request for a meeting, we were informed that PM was occupied with other national responsibilities," Nagendra Sharma, AAP spokesperson, said on Tuesday.

Sharma said that Kejriwal was advised to meet Finance Minister Arun Jaitley or Home Minister Rajnath Singh if the matter was urgent.

The AAP government has been locked in a battle over appointment of officials with Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung, who represents the centre in Delhi. Kejriwal reportedly wanted to discuss this power struggle with the prime minister.

On Monday, the Delhi High Court landed a blow on the Kejriwal camp by ruling that Mukesh Kumar Meena, who was appointed by Jung on June 9, would remain the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) chief, and it dismissed the AAP government's petition to restrain Meena from entering the premises of the ACB.
