New Delhi – A type of ‘authorised’ pills that boost alertness levels, cognitive powers while fighting fatigue is increasingly getting popular among Indian Air Force pilots, according to a report.

‘Go/No-Go’pills, or Modafinil, which is gaining popularity in military aviation circuits across the world for its fatigue-fighting and alertness enhancing characteristics, has now become a favourite among Indian Air Force fighter pilots who rely on the tablet during round-the-clock combat exercises as well as long-range sorties undertaken to improve their war-fighting skills, the Times of India reported.

The pill, which was in the works for the past three to four years, was used in IAF’s ‘Livewire’ exercises conducted from October 31 to November 8 across all of its 54 airbases across the country.

The pill was not only used by the fighter jet and helicopter pilots, but also by air traffic controllers and even the top officers to ‘good effect’ during Livewire, which was an exercise aimed at testing offensive and defensive capabilities wherein “swing forces” rapidly moved from the western theatre to the eastern one and vice-versa, the report said.
