After Bangladesh landed a crushing blow on India in the recent ODI series, the country's newspaper is now rubbing salt on the Indian cricket team's wounds.
Ridiculing the Indian team, a Bangladeshi newspaper, Prothom Alo, has released an advertisement showing top Indian players -- Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan and R Ashwin -- with their heads half shaven, standing under the towering presence of Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman.
Mustafizur is the rookie pacer who single-handedly wrecked Indian batting in the ODI series.
The caricature advertisement of stationery goods shows Mustafizur endorsing a cutter, symbolising his 'off cutter' technique on the field. The Indian players are seen holding a banner which reads, ‘We have used it. You can use it too’.
Indians, who were put off by the advertisement, expressed their resentment on Twitter.
But it seems the newspaper's humour wasn't appreciated by Bangladeshis either.
On the Facebook post of Prothom Alo, some commented saying the advertisement is 'distasteful' and 'betraying Bangladeshi culture.' Many criticised the newspaper calling the advertisement 'shameful' and 'stupid'.
