9 Bollywood Sequels To Watch Out For

Sunny Deol's recently released Ghayal Once Again marks the start of a busy sequel season in Bollywood. While some franchises are returning in a new avatar as reboots, there are others which are emerging from hibernation and taking off from where the previous films ended. Here are nine to watch out for.

1. Dhoom Reloaded

In true YRF style, the build up for the next Dhoom has already begun with a snazzy musical mash-up of the first three. The video focuses on the bad guys of the earlier instalments so it looks like Dhoom Reloaded may not feature Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra. While a section has been whispering about Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Prabhas teaming up for this instalment, there have also been talks of a reunion of all the Dhoom villains. Whatever be the final cast, this one's surely going to be the biggest of them all.

2. Don 3

Farhan Akhtar has not really committed to a start date, but has teased fans on more than one occasion about his plans for the franchise. Recently there were some unofficial reports about Katrina Kaif being considered for the film's leading lady, while Shraddha Kapoor's name has also been doing the rounds. But there hasn't been any official announcement as yet from anybody associated with the project. SRK (who is currently shooting for Raees, produced by the same team) has always been very vocal about his fondness for the character, so it's only a matter of time before they say lights...camera...action!

3. Great Grand Masti

The first one was genuinely funny, while the second one remains the most profitable film ever in its genre. Sex comedies have had a tough ride this year, due to strict censorship as well as the abundance of such jokes on WhatsApp, which is why the entire trade is watching this one (see the trailer here) closely as its performance will impact the future of many adult comedies in pipeline.

4. Hera Pheri 3

Minus Akshay Kumar, this is clearly a different chapter in the Hera Pheri story (see the trailer here). Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty return to revisit their most-loved-characters ever, but this time they have Dostana duo John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan for company. Shot across Las Vegas, Macau and Dubai, we hope this one's humour quotient does not lose out to the lavish budget.

5. Housefull 3

Writers Sajid and Farhad take over the director's baton from Sajid Khan for the third round (see the trailer here) of this hit series. Abhishek Bachchan joins Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh for the slapstick joyride while the glam-quotient is in the safe hands of Nargis Fakhri, Lisa Haydon and Jacqueline Fernandes. With Airlift earning him accolades, it would be interesting to see how good ol' goofy Akki fares at a time when his restrained avatar is raking in all the moolah.

6. Judwaa 2

Just a few days after the Salman Khan blockbuster (his first Eid release) turned 19, producer Sajid Nadiadwala announced the second instalment of the Judwaa series. After reports of several potential actor-director combos, it's finally Varun Dhawan who steps into Salman's shoes for his second outing with papa David Dhawan (after the delightful Main Tera Hero). Reportedly the test shoots have already begun, and this entertainer is going to be made on a lavish scale. For Varun it is just the kind of solo-hero vehicle needed to cement his position as a commercial hero, as he is widely seen as the rightful successor to Govinda and Salman Khan's legacy. But will the original Prem and Raja play a part in this one? Your guess is as good as mine.

7. Mr India 2

Given the scale of VFX needed to do justice to India's greatest sci-fi film ever, the Mr India sequel is a mammoth challenge. But Boney Kapoor has assured fans that the film is definitely happening. From Salman Khan playing the new Mogambo to Arjun Kapoor joining the original cast, there have umpteen theories surrounding the film, but one thing is for sure -- Anil Kapoor still fits into that suit as well as he did three decades ago.

8. Munna Bhai 3

After brief reports of a change in the actor-director combo, the Munna Bhai franchise is back with its original team. PK director Rajkumar Hirani recently confirmed that he has a story in place for Munna Bhai and has even spoken to Sanjay Dutt about it. But this time Sanjay Dutt will be playing his age, so expect your lovable bhai to return with a difference.

9. Raaz Reloaded

This Emraan Hashmi franchise has the actor playing a vampire in the fourth instalment that also stars Kriti Kharbanda. Shot in Romania, this is one that promises to up the eerie quotient with the usual dollop of romance.
