The government would always work to protect cows and had increased the allocation for the Rashtriya Gokul Mission to Rs 750 crore this year, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said while presenting the interim budget 2019 in the Parliament on Friday.
“Gau mata ke samman mein yeh sarkar kabhi peeche nahi hategi, (the government will never back down when it comes to honouring cows). ” Goyal said.
Goyal said Rs 750 crore had been allocated for increasing the production and productivity of cows in 2018-19.
The interim budget proposed to provide 2% interest subvention for farmers pursuing animal husbandry and fisheries.
Goyal also said a separate department will be created for fisheries.
