Amidst the ongoing tussle with the Centre, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday took a dig at her Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath, saying he should take care of his state first.

Adityanath is scheduled to address a rally in West Bengal’s Purulia on Tuesday and according to ANI, his helicopter will land in Bokaro, Jharkhand. He will then travel to Purulia by road.

Adityanath was forced to travel by road after the West Bengal government refused permission for his helicopter to land in the state.

Ahead of his scheduled rally, Banerjee advised Adityanath to take care of Uttar Pradesh first. “So many people have been killed, even police were murdered, so many people were lynched, he himself will lose if he contests elections. He (Adityanath) doesn’t have a place to stand in Uttar Pradesh, that’s why he’s roaming around in Bengal,” she was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The BJP has lashed out at Banerjee over the denial of permission, with Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey saying she cannot stop the “wave of defeat” approaching her.

Uttar Pradesh minister Mohsin Raza also slammed Banerjee, asking “how’s the khauf”, a tweaked version of Uri: The Surgical Strike’s popular dialogue ‘How’s the josh’.

Meanwhile, the TMC termed the BJP’s allegations as “baseless” and accused the party of trying to disturb the peace in the state.

Though the BJP had been allowed to organise the rallies, the district administration denied permission for Adityanath’s chopper to land at both the places, party leaders said.
