It’s easy to turn any corner and find a cab or a restaurant or a happening event waiting for you. But when you literally want to go ‘around the corner’, there’s usually no toilet to be found. Fortunately, a new app called Find x Toilet, created by developer Ishan Anand, helps you answer nature’s call by telling you the location of the nearest loo in Delhi.
The app uses the phone's location services and GPS to find and show the nearest toilets and even offers ratings based on cleanliness and usability. It will also show you the shortest route to the toilet, pretty handy when you’re pressing both legs together. You can also rate the facilities and upload photos of them for the perusal of other discerning bathroom-goers.
Launching the application in Delhi, Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung suggested that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) should make use of this app and keep the conditions of the toilets updated. App creator Anand said that this Find x Toilet was developed to complement the Swachh Bharat initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi (hopefully fewer walls will be substituted for urinals). Anyone can download the Android app and contribute to the cause.

The app shows you a map of toilets, which are divided into four categories—free, paid, malls/shopping complexes and petrol pumps. You can view the toilets as a list too. You can also recommend a toilet to the app with location, category, photographs and rating if it is not listed. Once the app makers verify the information it will show up on list.
Anand said, "Users of this app can also add toilets that are not already listed for the benefit of others. This app's crowdsourced element is another important benefit because it enables users to help others, as well as themselves--all for free."

Right now this app has 1000 toilets listed. Anand claims that it covers 80% of the toilets in Delhi and he plans to add more in coming days. There is also a plan to extend the services of the app to metro cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru.
After the launch of Swachh Bharat program, numerous app developers have made an effort to align with the cause. The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has developed an app for reporting sanitation in villages. Another developer has developed an app so any citizen can take photographs of dirty places and tweet to the Prime Minister.
