A Banaras Hindu University (BHU) student died after he was shot at by unidentified men on motorcycle on campus, police said, NDTV reported.
Gaurav Singh, a masters student at the university, was standing with his friends outside the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hostel when unidentified persons on a motorcycle opened fire at him, a police official told PTI.
“We have arrested 4 people. It was a case of personal enmity,” Varanasi Cantt circle officer Anil Kumar Singh said.
Gaurav had sustained bullet injuries in his stomach and was rushed to the trauma centre of the BHU’s Institute of Medical Sciences, where he succumbed to injuries.
The police perused the CCTV footage and launched a manhunt to apprehend the criminals, PTI reported.
