A court in Bihar on Saturday directed the authorities to file an first information report (FIR) against actor Sunny Deol, director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and writer Kasinath Singh, saying their movie "Mohalla Assi" hurt religious sentiments of people.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ramchandra Prasad heard the complaint case filed by advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha, and directed the Muzaffarnagar police to file a FIR against the three people and other actors who had roles in the movie.

Ojha had filed a complaint in the court, alleging that a trailer of the movie was laced with cuss words, which maligned the image of Varanasi and its traditions and "hurts the religious sentiments of Hindus". He claimed that the movie had been leaked on the internet, and that he had seen it.

Several publications, such as FirstPost, have written about the trailer and its casual use of profanity.

The court will decide the next date for hearing the case after police registers the FIR.
