Samsung has launched a new phone targetting millions of India's two-wheeler riders. Equipped with a setting called Safe Bike Mode, the mid-range device will retail at ₹8990.

The safe bike mode can be activated by a tap on the NFC tag, which comes with the phone. Samsung calls this feature 'Tap Kick Vroom'. Galaxy J3 has a 5-inch super AMOLED display with a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. It has a 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 MP rear camera. The phone has 16 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB with a microSD card.

In safe bike mode, when you call the rider, you will hear this message: "The user you are calling is riding the bike and has turned on the S bike mode. If your call is important, press 1". This message is recorded in 14 languages so the user can choose in what language the message will be played to the caller. If you press 1, the call goes through and bikers would hear a distinct ringtone which can be heard in traffic. Samsung has enabled motion control as well so the rider can't take the call while riding. The rider has to stop and take a call to avoid accidents.

The phone is available in three colours--black, gold and silver. Galaxy J3 will be exclusively available on Snapdeal. The online retailer's CEO Kunal Bahl said: "This will help avoid accidents and it is a great help for delivery boys in the e-commerce business as well who get calls all the time". Snapdeal is giving a chance to win ₹15,000 as FreeCharge credit. Samsung said the S Bike mode will be introduced to other Galaxy phones soon.

Earlier this month Samsung launched their flagship phones Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in India at a price of ₹48,900 and ₹56,900 respectively. The company is also giving a virtual reality headset to the early buyers of these phones. The Korean smartphone makers also released three new versions of their latest smartwatch offering Gear S2 in India.
