Over 96 people are feared to have died and 350 injured in a fire that broke out at a temple the Puttingal temple in Kollam, Kerala on Sunday morning. The tragedy took place during a display of fireworks.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on his way to Kollam to visit the area. A team of burn specialist doctors is travelling with him.
The PM has also announced ₹2 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the critically injured, a government spokesperson told ANI.
