Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Chouhan said on Thursday that he was "thankful" that the Supreme Court had transferred the cases related to the Vyapam scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
"I had filed a petition day before yesterday at the Madhya Pradesh high court for this," he told reporters. "It was important that the CBI investigates the case since several questions have been raised against my government." He had asked the Jabalpur high court to hand over the case to CBI on Tuesday.
Alleging that the Congress party was suffering from "Shivraj-phobia", he said that members of the opposition had been demanding his resignation several times every day.
"If Congress hates me then it should target me, not the state," he said. "This is what Congress has fallen to."

Chouhan also publicly requested CBI to begin its investigation on the scam soon, so that the "truth" could come out. The case has been so far investigated by a MP high court-monitored special task force, and a second chargesheet was to be filed in the case by next week. Over 2,000 people, including politicians, middlemen, students, and their parents, have already been arrested since 2011.
