Pictures: World's First 3D Printed Building In Dubai

World's first fully 3D printed building was inaugurated today in Dubai. The single storied building was built in just 17 days with the help of a 20-foot tall 3D printer.

The building was made with a special mix of concrete, fibre reinforced plastic and glass-fibre reinforced gypsum.

The printer used for the construction is 20-foot tall, 120-foot long and 40-foot wide.

Only one person was needed to handle the printer. The strength of the rest of the building crew was 18, including electricians, installers, and mechanical engineers.

The total cost of the construction came to $140,000, which is almost half of conventional building method costs. Dubai aims to do 50% of their building construction using the 3D printing method by 2030.

"This is the first 3D-printed building in the world, and it's not just a building, it has fully functional offices and staff," said Mohamed Al Gergawi, the UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs.
