Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore from JK Rowling's Harry Potter series is one of the most beloved literary characters of our times.

In the movie adaptations of the novels, which released in regular intervals between 2001 and 2011, Dumbledore was initially portrayed by the late English actor Richard Harris. Following his death in 2002 after the first two installments had been filmed, the role was taken up by Michael Gambon.

However, it now turns out that an Indian actor had a shot at playing the iconic character. During a Twitter chat with Times Of India on Monday, Naseeruddin Shah revealed:

My agent wanted me to audition for Dumbledore’s character after Richard Harris died. I was asked if I would like to audition for it. But I wouldn’t audition for it.

And he also said this:

Holy shit.

Just... imagine the possibilities.
