Most parents I know in Pune often complain about how our city does not have as many awesome kid-friendly attractions as Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad do. While I agree to a certain extent, the good news is that many new places are popping up in Pune to take the family fun quotient a few notches higher. (Also check out my lists of older attractions for kids under 12 and teens.)

Address: Opp Khopoli, Mumbai-Pune Expressway
So, do your children envy their cousins and friends who live in "snowy" parts of the world? Now there is no reason for them to get upset. Imagica recently opened the doors to its latest attraction, a snow park. Touted as one of the largest snow parks in India, this one boasts of real snow made from RO purified water and is completely edible because it is 100% chemical free. Parents of infants and toddlers, hope your worries are put to rest.
Play snow basketball, slide down rafts and toboggans, indulge in snow fights, live a fairy tale moment under the snowflakes, groove at sub-zero temperature on the dance floor, go hiking on snow rocks, see what a snow castle looks like, click pictures with amazing ice-sculptures or meet 'n' greet an Eskimo in an igloo. End your snow escapade with a glass of hot chocolate in a snow café.
Mycity4kids Tip: A visit to Snow Park takes about 1-1.5 hours including wait time, putting on the snow gear and experiencing the place. So, club it as an add-on attraction to Imagica's theme park or water park. This works out cheaper too.

Head to Funky Monkeys Play Center for your little simians to unleash their energy. This indoor play zone opened in February this year and has already grabbed the attention of kids and parents. Designed for children aged six months to 14 years, Funky Monkeys is great for unstructured free play. A cheerful ambience, vibrant décor, play gyms, wave slides, spiral slides, ball pool, mini carousel, walkway rope bridge and more -- your children will surely go bananas here.
Mycity4kids Tip: Call up the play centre before scheduling a visit as it is occasionally closed for private birthday parties.

Address: Old Mumbai- Pune Highway, Nr Karla, Kamshet
Wet N Joy Water Park opened its gates last month to the public. It claims to be the largest water park in India and has the largest wave pool and the longest water ride as its special attractions. It uses purified and recycled water from unused natural resources, and runs on solar energy, which is generated through its solar parking, another largest in the country. This definitely sounds interesting!
Your family can look forward to imported water rides such as boomerango, cyclone, tornado, mat racer, coaster blaster, xtreme volcano, free fall, royal castle and many more.
Wet N Joy has also introduced a cashless RFID wrist band which enables cashless transactions to avail of the locker and changing room facility as well as to shop and eat. In my opinion, this is a very customer-friendly service and very much essential to glide your way through such places, especially with kids.

Get ready for some delirious dining at Madness, a group of three concept-based restaurants -- Social Clinic, Donkey's Arse and Superheroes -- which opened earlier this year. Madness deserves a mention in this list simply because of its unconventional themes.
Social Clinic is a hospital-themed restaurant. So, you lounge in wheelchairs and hospital beds while the staff, dressed up as nurses and doctors, serve drinks in test tubes, beakers and syringes. The food is pretty good too and this is one hospital your kids won't mind getting admitted to!
Donkey's Arse is a comedy club, mainly reserved for adults as it serves alcohol. Quirky and amusing interiors, live music and stand-up comedy events attract patrons here. Do allow your kid a sneak peek at the wacky décor.
Superheroes was earlier an exclusive kids' café which transported the little ones into a fantasy world of caped saviours. The idea was to keep the munchkins happily engaged and distracted under professional supervision while parents enjoyed a carefree dining experience. A few days ago, it converted into a bar lounge. However, it has still retained its superheroes theme, which makes it worth a visit. There is also a children's play zone where they can play games, hop on trampolines, glide down slides and even celebrate their birthdays!
Mycity4kids Tip: Do check the availability of caretakers for children on the day you are planning to visit.

Address: Nr Someshwar Temple, Someshwarwadi, Pashan
Inaugurated about a year ago, this is Pune's first mock village and tries to give visitors a glimpse of rural life. You can take a walk through this park amidst 700 life-size statues of villagers, animals, wells and farms. Each statue showcases a realistic theme or a story around festivals, rituals, governance, education and healthcare. It's a great introduction to the charm of rural Maharashtra for kids.

Mycity4kids Tip: If you are not familiar with Maharashtrian history and culture, it would be a good idea to take along someone who does or dig up some information on your own. This will come in handy when your kids shoot questions to you during or after the visit.
