Gujarat's minister of state for urban housing, health, family welfare and transport, Shankar Chaudhary, was at a government school, teaching students English when the spelling of elephant came up. Chaudhary went up to the blackboard and scrawled 'E-L-E-P-H-E-N-T', the video of which has now gone viral.
Chaudhary, who was recently embroiled in a fake degree row, was at Deesa in Banaskantha district on Thursday as part of the state government's Shala Praveshotsav programme, Times of India reported.
Here's the video.
The minister's aides have however said that he had intentionally written the wrong spelling to test the children's knowledge.
In 2012, Chaudhary, an MLA from Radhanpur, was accused of watching obscene pictures on a tablet in the assembly. He has denied the charges. Last year a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Gujarat High Court alleging that Chaudhary's MBA degree is fake.
