It looks like Apple Music, announced earlier this week at WWDC will cost Rs. 120 in India for an individual, and Rs. 180 for a family plan, according to screenshots posted by a coder on Twitter.
According to Jayesh, who posted the screenshots from a developer preview, the prices are listed on both the developer preview and beta.
Apple had announced the US subscription price for the same services as $9.99 for an individual, and $14.99 for a family plan.
While these subscription prices aren’t official, they are competitive and in the same price range with other streaming music offerings available in India such as Wynk, Gaana, Saavn, Hungama, apart from international services like Rdio.
To compare, the Gaana+ subscription service is priced at Rs 99 per month, which lets you sync music to 5 devices. An ad-free version that is priced at Rs 199 a year lets you stream HD music on web and mobile phones.
Wink Plus subscription costs 99 a month on Android, and Rs 120 on iOS devices. Airtel users can subscribe to the service for Rs 60. Rdio’s subscription plans start at Rs 60 a month for web streaming, while the unlimited plan is priced at 119 a month for web and mobile streaming, and sync capabilities. The family plan on Rdio is priced at 178.50, and offers two unlimited subscriptions. Additional subscriptions can be added for Rs 59.50 for upto 5 members.
Apple Music will be playable on iOS, Mac and PC devices, and will be launched on Apple TV and Android phones later this year. The first three months of the service are free, and includes access to Beats 1 Radio and Apple Connect, a social network for musicians and music fans.
