A day before his birthday -- Dhanush turns 32 today -- this cute minion poster was put up to celebrate his latest movie Maari. This basically imagines Dhanush as a minion with a 'stache.

Over time, moustached men have replaced clean-shaven heroes on screen. Here's a look at some of them.

Keshto Mukherjee

Pair his epic toothbrush mouche with his comic roles in films, and lo presto! The Indian Charlie Chaplin stands before you. This may not have been the most impressive moustache, but it certainly adds to his personality as a comedian.

Saif Ali Khan

When clean shaven, he makes for an innocent-boy-next-door. But it's his moustache that really brings out his dashing, royal side, not to mention his rockstar bad-boy image with a guitar.

Utpal Dutt

Considering one of his biggest hits Golmaal (1979) revolved around a man's moustache, it would be impossible to give this veteran actor a miss. While he eventually shaves his mouche off in the end, and has gone clean-shaven for many a role, there's no denying his strong 'stache abounds with versatility: it adds to his comic persona and makes for a stern statement at the same time.

Ranveer Singh

Known for his quirky fashion statements, Ranveer's recent handlebar was all the rage, and he admitted he loved "playing with it, curling it. And the girls love it, too."

Anil Kapoor

He has done only three films without his moustache (and none without his legendary hairy chest), proving that heroes with moustaches not only survive, they can thrive in the industry. The actor also remarked on this in an interview: "When I started out in 'Woh Saat Din', Manmohan Desai said heroes with a moustache were not accepted in Bollywood. The same man had to come back and tell me he was wrong."

Jackie Shroff

Tiger may have the muscles and the moves, but Jackie's got the mouche! And throughout the nineties, Shroff senior's look was the trendy offering at many barber salons across India.
