NEW DELHI -- For the past week, former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar has dug himself into a hole over his claim that he studied science at a college in Uttar Pradesh, and then got his law degree from a university in Bihar.
After carrying out an investigation at both these institutions, the Delhi police has conclude that Tomar has "fabricated" his science and law degrees.
Tomar, 49, was arrested on June 9 after an FIR was filed against him for cheating and forgery, and he resigned from his position as the law minister in the Aam Aadmi Party government on the same day.
On Sunday, The Times Of India reported that Tomar failed to give the common names of H2O (water) and NaCl (salt).
When asked about the different chemistry courses taught at the Saket college in Faizabad, Tomar said, "All chemistry is one chemistry."
Earlier in the week, Tomar failed to identify the science laboratories and washroom at the college.

The Aam Aadmi Party, which had earlier backed its minister over his academic claims, is now considering expelling him.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is reportedly furious that Tomar convinced him of his degree being genuine by allegedly producing a forged Right To Information reply from the college in UP.
On Saturday, a Delhi court extended his police custody for two days.
"Every document produced by him (Tomar) is fabricated and it needs to be probed who are the people in connivance with Mr Tomar in procuring these documents, the police told the court, PTI reported.
The police sought more time to investigate who else was involved in allegedly helping Tomar procure these false documents.
