Security has been tightened around the Supreme Court complex in the national capital after the Delhi Police received an anonymous letter threatening to blow up the court.
The Hindustan Times quoted unnamed police sources as saying that the identity of the sender was being withheld for security reasons. Security around the Supreme Court complex on Tilak Marg was immediately beefed up.
The home ministry was informed about the email and all agencies responsible for securing the court complex were directed to remain alert, the report said.
This comes days after a death threat was made against apex court judge Justice Dipak Misra.
Police received the mail yesterday, reported PTI. Incidentally, Justice Misra is one of the three Supreme Court judges who turned down the final plea against hanging of 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon.
Police said the mail first landed in the inbox of a person, whose identity was not disclosed, who forwarded it to them.
“We have received an email in which anti-national elements have threatened a bomb attack at the Supreme Court,” HT quoted a police officer as confirming.
The mail has been forwarded to a special cell, a police officer said. (With PTI inputs)
