A 23 -year-old man was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) yesterday who had allegedly reached Sudan to join the terror group ISIS in Libya.
According to a report in The New Indian Express, Mohammed Naser Packeer, a computer expert who was in Dubai earlier this year came in contact with an IS recruiter known as 'Mad Mullah', who asked him to reach Sudan. He was promised to be taken to Libya from there.
Suspecting the activities of Packeer, Sudanese authorities detained him and sent him back to India.
Packeer's father worked in a car showroom in Dubai and returned to India in May this year. This is when Naser started looking for IS related activities online. His handler arranged for a Sudanese visa for him and dispatched it to Dubai and promised him a training in Sudan before being deployed in Libya, reported Hindustan Times.
According to HT, NIA chief Sharad Kumar confirmed that an FIR has been registered by the anti-terror agency against Packeer.
The New Indian Express reports, till now NIA has managed to stop over 60 Indians from joining the terror group, but this turns out to be the first incident where an Indian was being deployed in Libya by the ISIS.
