NEW DELHI -- Ranveer Singh wishes superstar Salman Khan, the original choice to play Peshwa Bajirao, likes his take on the Maratha warrior in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani.
Salman, 49, was supposed to do the film, which the director had been wanting to make from past 12 years. But things did not work out and the role eventually landed in Ranveer's lap.
When asked if the actor discussed the role with Salman, Ranveer, 30, said, "No. I didn't get to meet him. Last few times that I met him were during Bajrangi Bhaijaan and recently on Bigg Boss where I went to promote the movie. I didn't take any tips from him.
"This (role) is my creation. I know he was to play the role but I hope he likes my work. I hope he gives a pat on my back."
Also starring Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, Bajirao Mastani releases on 18 December.
