Researcher and entrepreneur Ambiga Dhiraj created a new record on Wednesday when she took over the reigns of data analytics firm Mu Sigma as the CEO. Ambiga has become the first woman chief executive of an Indian technology company that's worth at least $1 billion, reported The Economic Times.

A Wayne State University and Anna University alumna, Ambiga was the chief operating officer at Mu Sigma and was responsible for overall operations including delivery and client services. With over 15 years of experience in new product development and services, Ambiga has vast experience in delivering services that leverage a global delivery model to Fortune 500 companies.

"I want to create the most resilient organisation, one with the proper foundation to support our growth over the next five years," Ambiga, who is based in Bengaluru, told ET.

Her husband Dhiraj Rajaram, who was the CEO of the company until now, will now relocate to the United States to 'engage more directly' with the clients as well as design new offerings for the company's man-machine ecosystem, reported ET.

"Ambiga is one of the most design-oriented and operationally strong leaders that I've ever worked with," Dhiraj had said of his wife in an earlier interview.
