NASHIK -- Activist Trupti Desai has been detained by the police after she entered the Trimbakeshwar temple to offer prayers.
"We offered prayers to Lord Shiva at Trimbakeshwar temple and prayed that women be allowed in temple's sanctum. We are inside the temple which is itself a very big thing," said Desai.
Meanwhile, local women protests as Desai entered Trimbakeshwar temple.
Desai and her supporters had vowed to break the age-old rule of not allowing women inside the temple. They have demanded that women should be allowed to enter the inner sanctum of Trimbakeshwar temple.
The temple trust has maintained that the ban on the entry of women is based on tradition, claiming that no objection has ever been raised on the same.
